Leaping Lizards!

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

I am sure that you are thinking, "what in the world has leaping lizards got to do with God's word." Well, hold on - I'll tell you!!

My daughter and her family went out as usual to find their beautiful Christmas tree. They love live ones. So do 'other things'. Anyway, they found the tree and decided on it, brought it home and put the lights on. Saturday morning, she began to finish trimming the tree, and got as far as putting her ornament on the very top. When, all of a sudden, she had two little eyes staring at her from the limb!! She was scared, to say the least!! I know the feeling - I've had those lizards to get in my house as well. Maybe they aren't very harmful, but don't give me one in my house!!

They sat Saturday, "lizard watching" ........Sunday, "lizard watching", and the lizard is still in that tree, thanks to their cat!! He knows that lizard is in there, but just hasn't gotten to him yet, although he's tried on numerous occasions to climb up into the inside of that tree!! Perhaps he will succeed.

Well, the adversary, the devil, is the same way. He comes into your life without you even knowing it. He is there to pester you on every hand, around every corner you go - he won't let up until you get rid of him, via the Word and power of God. He will 'stick around' until you say, I've had enough!!

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Resist means to "to set one's self against, to withstand, resist, oppose". The only way we can be successful in fleeing from the devil is to get into God's Word, get it into our hearts, and then, when the devil comes against us, we have God's power in the Spirit to come against his attacks.

Begin today reading the Word; study it daily, and the more you read it, the more it will open up TRUTH to you and you'll be able to use the scripture in your daily walk with the Lord. That is how HE is alive to you - through HIS WORD, the TRUTH. Without the Word, we are no match for the devil! Like the lizard, he will stay around until you get rid of him!!

Heavenly Father, give us the strength to stay in your Word, and help us to meditate on it day and night. Then, when the adversary comes against us or our families, we have the Power you have given us in your Word to withstand his attacks! We thank you for giving us the Word, and we give you the honor, glory and praise due your name. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
