Whom Shall I Fear? Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
We are now into the second week of the year 2000. We've met all the problems with our computers head on. Things seem to be very upbeat in the world, not having
had too many Y2K problems. I've actually taken my Christmas tree down already this year!! That, in itself, is an accomplishment for me, since I'm a procrastinator, when
it comes to removing that tree. I'm usually late to get it up and late to take it down. And, since I didn't have a tree up the past two years, I chose not to take it down
immediately. But, today, the feeling came that this was the day!! So, I'm happy to report, it is down!
All of us get these feelings that someone might not approve of how we live, or the things we do. Others may mean well when they tell you to 'get a life'. I look around,
thinking WHO are they talking to - surely not me, I HAVE A LIFE.
A friend called today, needing to talk about a certain fear she had in her life. Seems, even though she got a 'good report' from her doctor today about a problem she's worried
herself sick over, she still can't shrug off the fear she's felt about this. I reminded her that she was 'made in his likeness', [ Gen 1:26 ] 'has the mind of Christ', [ I Corn. 2:16 ] the JUST shall live by faith,[ Romans 1:17 ] and no weapon formed against
her can prosper [ Is 54:17 ] - why? IT is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [ Is 54:17 ]......and, if you live for God, then you are that 'servant'! The devil comes against us through the path we let him, and, mostly,
it's in our minds!! Our minds will play havoc on us, if we let it!! BUT, as I told my friend, "Greater is He that is in you that he that is in the world" [I John 4:4 ].
Whose report would you believe? The Master gives us the TRUTH in his word - "thy Word is Truth" [ John 17:17 ] , but yet we choose to let the enemy come in and try to destroy what we know is a 'good report'!! How dare him come against
the servants of God!! He is defeated and we need to let him know that WE KNOW his end is near. When doubt and fear come your way, look to JESUS and the Word!
| Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

| Heavenly Father, we've come one more mile, one more day, by faith in you. We know that you will take us to places we've never been, see things we've never seen, and
experience things we've never experienced before. Fear comes to grip our hearts, but you are there when we need you, with love and support and assurance that we need only lean on you, not on our own understanding, and
we will make it through to the next trial, and on through that one, until we come to live with you eternally. Satan is a deceiver and tries every way to get us to denounce our life with you; but he's a liar, the father of
those lies, and, in you, there is no fear! We give you praise and honor and glory, and thank you for being our Saviour. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
