Open My Blinded Eyes Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Psalms 146:8 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:
Jesus, I've learned of you through the Bible. I've read it over and over again. I've done all the things
you said I needed to do. I've loved the people I've met, been good to the poor, had compassion on
the hurting.
I keep reading the Word, Jesus, but I still am not happy. I go to church everytime the doors are
open, but I am not satisfied. I am a 'good person'. Why can't I feel like a whole person, one without
all the worries of life, the ability to smile, and perhaps go a day without shedding tears?

Job 27:8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? |
What good is doing all the things set apart in the Bible, if we aren't really living a Godly life before God. If one hasn't given his/her
life over to God - accepted Him as their personal Saviour, through Grace by faith, then nothing they do will gain them a place in heaven, nor
will it make them happy. We are blinded to the real happiness that only a relationship with God can bring.
If one isn't truly walking the path of righteousness, then satan can blind him spiritually. He/She really thinks they are a Christian; yet
their life doesn't show it. They are easily drawn away by life's pleasures, quickly forgetting what they have learned of the scriptures. The Word
quickly leaves them.
Our mouth can speak 'swollen words' .....that is, words we've learned through reading; yet, if we don't practice what we 'preach'.. then, those
words will have no real meaning in them. Others will quickly see through us, call us hypocrites. The world will even look down on you for trying to
be something you really are not.
Is your life in shambles? Are you not at peace with yourself? Is life getting you down? Are you running from what you know to
be the real truth?
| Heavenly Father, open our eyes to the Truth in Your Word. Help us realize that we can only be saved by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and that's it not of our doing, but a free gift. Then, help us fully place our trust in you and serve you in both Word and deed. Help us give all our life to you, not just a part, that we might
know that we are ready to go, should you come for us at anytime. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
