Resurrection Day Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
We celebrate the resurrection of Christ this Sunday, the day he arose from the grave, triumphant over death and the grave! What man meant for harm was in
the plan of God. He had sent forth His Word in the form of flesh. Jesus was to remain on this earth for a period of time, to undergo the things that man
would ever have to endure, and take the gospel to the people, yet never give into sin. It was in God's plan that His Son would go to the cross, to be crucified,
and that death would cover the sins for eternity, of the people who chose to accept Grace through faith.
I am sure Mary, the Mother of Jesus, suffered greatly, as her son hung on that cross. A Mother's heart bleeds for her children, when they are hurting. We
can't always help them, and this was a time that Mary couldn't step in and console her Son. He had a deed to do - to bear the sins of many, to rise once again, never
to see death again. He could have called angels to save Him; yet he chose to carry out the plan of His Father, God.

1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? |
Christ's death on the cross was a hurt to many, including Mary. But, that death brought victory to many over their sins!! The grave could not hold the Son of God! They laid him in
that tomb, fully expecting the grave to hold his body. Can you imagine the thoughts that went through the unbelievers on that day, to see that stone rolled away? I am sure most of them
thought there were 'grave robbers' somewhere around. Satan's like that; he puts those kind of thoughts in your head, as though nothing could be as spectacular or miraculous as a body
disappearing 'into thin air'! But, he had one huge disappointment that day - NO 'grave robbers' - only a RISEN SAVIOUR!!
Do you know this 'risen Saviour' called Christ? If you don't, Resurrection Day is the best opportunity that you will have to come to give your heart and life to God. Ask him for forgiveness,
casting all your cares upon him. Believe that he died, rose again, and is now at the right hand of the Father, and he's coming once again to gather all his saints from the four corners of the earth,
to reign with him in Glory! It's up to you, as an individual to chose 'this day whom you will serve'.[ Josh 24:12 ]
| Heavenly Father, on this Resurrection Day 2000, we gather to honor your Son, the Risen Saviour! We thank you for another opportunity to stand up and say we serve the living Christ! We ask that you woo all those hearts who haven't made
the decision to accept the free gift of salvation. We give you honor and praise, due your precious name. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
