Keep Your Traveling Clothes On!
Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders

cross Matthew 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

There isn't one of us that wouldn't be ready to take a trip in a moment's notice, if we had a feeling we were about to take a trip. In fact, I'd love to take a vacation, and I don't think it would take me long to pack.

I don't believe any of us wouldn't try to be better prepared, if we knew something might happen in our lives to change us. If we knew that an accident was about to happen, we'd do anything in our power to avoid it. And when we see one coming, we pray that we are spared. But what about those times when something lurks 'around the corner', and we don't know it's there? The next intersection might hold life or death for any of us.

That happened to my cousin this past weekend, returning home from work. Just about two or three miles from home, she went to go across traffic on a four lane where there was no traffic light. She looked -nothing coming, and someone pulled up beside her. I have no idea what she was thinking, or whether she pulled out because she thought it was still clear. We may never know, but it was a tragic accident. As I type this devotional, the family is with her and they are probably removing the life support. Such a tragic loss!!

We never know when it's our time to meet with destiny. That's why it is so important to stay prepared. We need to stay in close touch with the Lord, read the Word, heed the Word, and keep our 'armor' on every minute of the day. Be ready to travel at any moment; your time may come unexpectedly. None of us are promised tomorrow.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

We need to follow after Jesus at all times. We need to keep the Word down deep within us, meditating on it day and night. We need to let our lives shine as a beacon in the dark. Then we know that we have everlasting life.

Heavenly Father, we want to be 'fully clothed' in righteousness at all times. Help us to stay true to your Word, to follow after life and not death. We give you praise, honor and the glory due your precious name. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
