OUR FATHER Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Isaiah 63:16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.
We observe Father's Day this Sunday. It's a day set aside to honor our earthly father. Each of us, who has a 'living father', will undoubtly try to get in touch with, if not see, our
father then. Since my father has passed away, it will be impossible to see him.
Those of us, who don't have an earthly father living, and, are a born-again Christian, have a FATHER who IS alive! When we became born again by the Holy Spirit, and were adopted into HIS family, then we had the right to call Him Father.
He is our Heavenly Father, our redeemer, the Christ, the first person of the Trinity. When our earthly father forsakes us, then the Heavenly Father is there to take us under his wings. He is the ROCK of our salvation. He is ALIVE in our Spirit!
This FATHER is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the everlasting one, the Almighty God, the one in whom we can put our trust and never be let down.
| Heavenly Father, as we honor our earthly father, we also honor You as our Heavenly Father. Without you, we would be doomed to live a life of existence, without hope for tomorrow. We give you honor, glory, and praise. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
