The Simple Truth Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Psalms 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

God's Word is so simple to understand, that people go out of their way to make it hard. You hear people constantly, don't take this literally, or that literally; God didn't mean this or that. But, the Word is the Truth, whether it
says what we want it to say, or what we think it means.
It's so easy for someone to take something out of context in scripture and try and argue a point. There have been so many denominations come out of a Bible that holds only one truth, the Truth of God. His way is the only way to life eternal; yet, you find
so many different beliefs in the world. So many of these beliefs say they are the 'only way'; if you aren't part of their religion, then you will be left out of heaven. But, no place in scripture do I find a denomination, or that there is any way but God's way to salvation.
This came about through the birth of Jesus, whom God sent to earth, to die for the sins of man. It was through his death, resurrection, and ascension to heaven to be with God, that we have salvation through grace by faith.
The Word may seem hard, but the Holy Spirit will enlighten you to the meaning of any scripture, if you ask. But, a natural man cannot understand scripture the way God meant it to be understood.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The Truth is so simple, that it's easily misunderstood or misquoted, because of lack of understanding. Eve could tell you how easy it is to think you 'heard' the Word, yet missed out on what life could have held for her, because she listened to satan and let him tell
her the 'word'. Had she been 'tuned into' HEARING, and OBEDIENCE, she would have recognized the misquote. Although the Truth is simple, it takes Spirit for true understanding.
| Heavenly Father, we thank you for the Holy Spirit, which enlightens us to the meaning of the Word. Help us to study daily, in order to know the simplicity of your truth, through prayer and obedience. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
