Make In Me A Clean Heart Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
The heart is the inner most organ of the human body. We often think of it as our "love" organ,
when in actuality it is our "life" line. It is the organ which works to make the blood flow
within our veins, keeping us alive, physically. The blood that keeps our body alive in the flesh flows through the 'veins', but as
a Christian, the royal blood of the master also flows through our inner most being, giving us eternal life. His Spirit lives
within us.
| Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: [but] God [is] the strength of my heart , and my portion for ever. |
We hear the words "heart and soul" used in conjunction with our feelings [i.e., "reached my very heart
and soul"], our inner most 'being'. The things that actually affect our heart are thoughts,
reasonings, understanding, will, judgment, designs, affections, love, hatred, fear, joy, sorry, and anger.
The "heart" therefore is used as a figure of speech for the mind in general.
Only God can cleanse our hearts, make us anew, but only through our faith in HIM and his Word. "But without faith it
is impossible to please him"...[Hebrews 11:6 KJV].
| Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart , O God; and renew a right spirit within me. |
| Psalm 69:32 The humble shall see [this, and] be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. |
If we want to see change in our lives, become tender hearted towards others, we need only go to God with our request for purification. God knows the mind and heart of every individual. But he lets us decide whether we
want to follow in obedience his will for our lives, or to disobey and follow after the lust of the flesh, or the
ways of the world.
Acts 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble . 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded. |
| Lord, help me to humble myself before you, as your obedient servant, willing to listen to the Holy Spirit, willing to let you
change my life in whatever area I need cleansing. Make in me a new heart, one that will be pleasing to you, edifying to the body of Christ. In Jesus name I
pray. Amen. |
It's beginning to rain! Hear the voice of the Father,
Saying, "Whosoever will, come drink of my water!"
He promised He'd pour His Spirit out
On His sons and His daughters!
If you're thirsty and dry, lift your hands to the sky;
It's beginning to rain!
