Call Upon His Name Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Tonight, with a flood of emails, urging that we pray, brought back memories of a time that prayer worked quickly for me and my granddaughter. We had a very strange wreck that happened
so quickly that no thoughts ran across our minds. Only one word came out of my granddaughter's mouth, as I said, Hold on, Heather! She began to say, "Jesus", and I rhymed in with her, seeking JESUS to help us out of our troubles.
He brought us both through that wreck without a scratch. And, further more, he brought our car, which has been bounced up and down,
side ways and every other way, in a deep ditch, coming to a stop just before bouncing back out in a curve in the road, without ONE scratch!! Only one front tire had come off the rim. Some call it a miracle; I say it was the Lord watching
over his children.
If, when you face troubles such as we are facing today, JESUS is the one person you want on your side. Now is a time to 'call upon Jesus'! We have never before, in the history of our lives, seen things like those happening now in this presidential election. Laws are thrown around like they
weren't even important. It's said it's not political, but I don't think that you will make the average citizen, or those that know the law and speak the truth, believe that it's anything other than politics.
We need to lay aside our differences, seek the face of God, pray like we've never prayed before, that GOD will bring forth his will for his people. We need restitution in this country - healing from the inside out! This didn't just start with
this presidential election, and the rush to RECOUNT in Florida. It started many years ago, when God was removed from the schools. No matter the stand you take on this issue, you can't remove GOD from any part of your lives, or you are asking for trouble. And,
now, we have it. Children aren't allowed to pray in school. And, now, when the Boy Scouts of America stand up to their rights to not allow certain people as leaders in their organization, they are getting reprecussions. Two states are not allowing them to use the schools
as they did before, and I am sure there will be more. Do you think GOD is pleased with a nation that isn't even allowing it's children the right to be heard, to be brought up in a clear Christian fashion that doesn't deter from the biblical principles he has set
forth in scripture?
Well, we have an answer. GOD isn't pleased. Look at the havoc that is now looming above the state of Florida. The clouds are so polluted with 'chads', that truth can't prevail. Only humble and sincere Christians, seeking the face of God, reaching out to Him in our hour of troubles, can reach the
throne of God, that He see the need for reaching down and changing circumstances. Only He is able to make a difference, if and when His people decide to fully trust that HE can make a difference, when HE is put back into our every day lives.
| Heavenly Father, we come before you today, to ask for grace in time of crisis. Our country is in a turmoil, and without your intervention, it will only get worse. We lay down our wants, and ask for your desire for our lives in this great nation. We give you thanks and praise before the answer. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
