All In Good Time Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
|
I can remember asking for something, and Mother saying, you will get it 'in good time'. I had no idea what she meant by that statement, but I wasn't about to ask! Then, as I became
an adult, had children of my own, I quickly understood. I used the same technique on my own children, to put them off, if something wasn't really in their best interest at the time. I can see my daughter using the same words, although,
maybe a little different, on her children, when they ask for dirt bikes, paint guns, etc. We know what our children can handle, and what they really need at a given age. The children might not understand, and may get upset. But, as parents,
we have to guard their lives and minds.
Our heavenly Father sees his children the same. There is a time and season for everything. He has our lives planned out just as they should go, and hopes that we will not deter from that plan. He has only our best interest
at heart. There will always be changes in our lives that perhaps we don't understand, but, it's mostly for our good. God's plan is a wise one. We should work to accomplish His plan for our lives, striving to do our best. We can never go wrong,
if we follow after God, and obey His commandments. Our faith and wisdom from God will get us through life without lots of heart aches. And, in good time, those things which we long for, will be ours, if we endure to the end.
| Heavenly Father, our human minds 'want' so much. Help us get into the realm of the Spirit, wanting only those things that will make us what you want us to become. Help us endure to the end. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
