Lessons Learned Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
I love bread! So, I bought a breadmaker, and began to experiment with recipes and packaged bread mix. The first two or three loaves came out wonderful. But, then, I began to experience little things going wrong: the bread began to fall, or not rise properly. The machine began to reset itself, after being on for maybe one hour or so. I've come to the conclusion it wasn't a mishap on my part, nor was it
the electricty causing a problem with a surge in power. I've become a little wiser, having tried this for about a month, and losing several loaves of bread - the breadmaker has a flaw in it's design or a bad part. Now, I could have gone on forever thinking perhaps I've been doing this wrong. But, my spirit says it's the machine, and my mind says take it back.
Perhaps the lessons you need to learn aren't about a breadmaker. Maybe you have spiritual problems and need to seek help, and don't know where to turn. God speaks through His Word and His Spirit. He is the Word and Wisdom and He will give us wisdom in all things, if we ask. According to James 1:5-6, if we lack wisdom,
and ask in faith, and do not waver, then He will grant us wisdom.
We have to be wise in our seeking the truth and to seek the truth from wise counsels. Not everyone is wise, nor is everyone truthful. God is a God of truth, and He will never lead you astray. You can always rely on Him for the answers you need!
