The Road Leading Home Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
We all like to go back home, the place where we grew up. But, when we return, it's never the same, for things change. Take the roads, for instance. The roads leading to my home
had always been clean, absent of debris. But, as the years have gone by, the trash has claimed those once beautiful roads. The ditches are full of bottles and papers. The road sides have grown up, and, if the trees have been cut, the debris from that has been left. Nothing is how we've left it; things do change! The road leading
home is just not the same road.
The road leading HOME - spiritually, never changes. But, we change, and sometimes stray from the straight and narrow way that leads to home. We let the debris of our lives pile up around our feet. The heaviness makes us become tired, and we sort of drift to the side. We sometimes stumble and fall. But, the Bible says to
acknowledge Him in all our ways, and He will direct our path. [ Proverb 3:6 ] Sometimes we forget that we can't go the path alone, that we need assistance. Although we may be strong in body and willing, the flesh is weak, and causes us to sometimes stray. But, God is there, ready to pick us up, dust off the debris, and steady our walk
down the path of righteousness - on 'the road leading home'.
