Key To The 'DOOR' Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
We all know what opens a door - a key. We all have them for our house, and our cars. We give our kids a copy of keys, because they are family. That way, they can gain entrance into our home.
Jesus is the 'DOOR' to salvation; He is always there. We jut don't ues the key to reach Him often enough. We don't ventrue into the throne room to seek Him out as we should.
Jesus appears, when we have found the right formula or 'key'. But, in reality, HE is always there. We haven't learned to create the right atmosphere in our worship for God to be ever present with us, although His Spirit resides in us, as Christians.
Worshipping God can capture His heart. But, if we haven't died out to self, and worship from a fleshly realm, we will never have the presence of God appear.
He wants all of us, not just those fleeting moments, when we just want to feel good. When we choose to do things our way rather than God's way, then He will let us. He will stay out of the arrangements.
Scripture says to seek His face, "seek ye the Kingdom of God" - then the pattern of God will begin to appear in your life.
The correct key will always bring you into the presence of the Holy King. But, selfishness, thinking you can do it your way, without God, will keep you out of His presence. We get close to God and we feel strong; the power is there. We are lifted up, and we soon forget
the paths on which we came to that place. We get self-sufficient, and God moves over and lets us do it 'our way'. When we start making bobbles, we wonder how it happened. If we are smart, we soon realize, without God to give us power, we are without the necessary provisions to stay on the
'high' to which we had become accustomed, as we let Him have control.
We prosper when we stay close to God. If we become so lifted u to self, leave God out of the arrangements, then we start feeling or seeing the effects of our disobedience. God wants His people to prosper in life. But, He doesn't want us to get all sufficient, that we leave
Him behind. That is always to our destruction.
