'Daniel' in the Den of Lions! Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Daniel 6:16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

Remember Daniel and how he was thrown into the lion's den, under false accusations? He had worshipped God and prayed openly, as he went about his daily business.
He didn't complain or excuse himself, but went about his daily tasks, while continuing to serve God to the best of his ability. But, just as in today's world, people felt he was wrong, and he needed to be stopped.
So they attempted to stop Daniel from praying by having a decree signed by the King, and whomever disobeyed this decree, would be casted into the lion's den. Daniel was found praying by the men and reported to the King. So, the King had no alternative but to order
him thrown into the lion's den. The King was distraught and fasted and didn't sleep the whole night.
Do you think perhaps God had a hand in the way they shut him up, in order to accomplish a miracle that would live throughout time? Well, sure enough, there was a miracle, because the Lord had an angel shut up the mouths of the lions, and Daniel was found unaharmed. So, the King let him loose and commanded that all of Daniel's accusers
be brought, along with their families, and thrown into the lion's den. Be sure that God will take care of his own!
| Heavenly Father, there is a 'lion's den' in our country's government today, ready to devour the ones that dare to acknowledge you in their lives. The enemy is ready to pounce on those that are going about doing your business. We ask for protection upon these people and their families, that they may carry on your work. We give you thanks and praise. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
