It's Almost Supper Time Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
2 Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

I can remember, when I was a child, loving to play basketball with our next door neighbor. You might call me a tomboy, but it was fun! I would rather have played basketball than eat. My older brother used to kid me, because I played with a boy, not a girl (but then, he played most of the time, too). Mother would call us to supper, knowing that she'd have to repeat herself many times
to get me in the house! I was a basketball fanatic, at the time. I would eventually go in, not that the food was calling. I just knew Mother would be out soon to get me, if I didn't mind.
You know, right now, we are being prepared for 'supper' with our heavenly Father. It won't be long, and He will be calling us to 'sup' with Him. We won't be able to prolong our stay here in this life, if we are ready to go with Him. There won't be any last-minute preparations that we will be able to make, so make them now! He will take us to the banquet table promptly - no waiting in line to eat, no lack of food. We won't have any other priorities that come before Him or supper time.
Are you dressed and ready to go? Are you washed 'in the blood of the lamb', clothed with 'His righteousness', a vessel of 'honour', watching and waiting? It's almost 'SUPPER TIME'.
| Heavenly Father, we know it's almost time for your return. Keep us in faith, waiting and watching for your return daily, so that we will not be left behind. We give you all honor, glory, and praise due your precious, Holy Name. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
