Knowing And Doing Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
All of us have come to a place in our lives where we think we know enought to get us through. In fact, many of us have felt we know it all. Just ask
any teenager, upset with parents trying to guide them through life! It upsets a child to think that the parents know better than they do about what would be best for them.
How dare the parent to tell them what to do or how to do it!
We've all been there, if we are honest. But one day, we wake up and realize that perhaps our parents were smarter. Perhaps their vision for our life was clearer than our own.
After all, they had been through similar things in their lives. They had experience, and knew how to guide us to keep us from going down the wrong direction. We wouldn't make the same mistakes, if we
would listen.
Most of us know that we do not do what we need to do, spiritually, in our lives. We do what pleases us, while knowing that the Word says to be doers and not just hearers of the Word. But, 'knowing and doing' isn't the same thing, and most of us KNOW, but do we DO?

| Heavenly Father, help us be good stewards of Your Word, to study and apply the Word daily. When we stumble, help us get back up and try again. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
