Is It Well With Your Soul? Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
We wake up in the morning, ready for the day. We have it all figured out in our minds what we will do the entire time. But, do we really know the future, what we may really be doing at any given time?
Yesterday, I went for my usual hairdo at the local beauty shop. A young lady was there that wouldn't normally be there at that time of day, due to her work schedule. When I asked if she wasn't working, she sort of looked at the beautician,
wondering if I knew. And the beautician told her she hadn't told me. The lady calmly said, "My Dad died yesterday." You could have knocked me over with a feather! The man wasn't sick, showed no signs of problems at all! He was such a sweet man, and always
loved to talk about the Lord, and how he loved his family. He doted on his daughter, who had undergone surgery for breast cancer only last year. It makes you stop and think, to know someone like this - without a warning, he goes to be with the Lord. He had only had
'a pain', to which he attributed to having cut a tree down the day before. I am sure death was never in his vocabulary. But, how quickly one can meet their maker.
We don't know what tomorrow holds, or what joy or sorrow it can bring. We love life so much, but it's appointed once unto man to die. [Hebrews 9:27] Each day should be filled with serving and worshipping the Lord. Don't be slack in your thankfulness for life to Him. Don't
get so busy 'with life', that you have no thought of your 'future'.

| Heavenly Father, help us to serve you diligently, to be ready when it's our appointed time to meet you. Keep us from all evil and fill our hearts with joy. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
