Have you ever felt just plain empty, when no words would come? You knew they were there,
but no matter how much you tried, nothing formed within your mind. You can't force a devotional
when it's not there, so tonight, I just told a friend that there probably wouldn't be one, since I
was so empty and didn't have a thought of what to write about. She said to me, "I truly believe sometimes, being unprepared allows you to be open to what the Spirit tells you to do.....just listen.....". OH, how true!!
| Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. |
Out of a need to feel up to par, we sometimes try to do things on our own, not giving GOD time to instruct us in His
ways, and we botch the job. I knew tonight it would be a terrible botch job if I proceeded to try and do this
alone. So I chose not to write a devotional until I heard my friend say what she did. I knew then I was EMPTY enough to
hear from God.
If we learn to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit, he will always supply us with the right words for a situation. I knew
in my heart, if God wanted me to write a devotional tonight, He would have to be the one to supply me with it. On my own, I could
have done absolutely nothing! I had to trust him to supply my need.
I needed a refreshing - a reviving, or replenishing of my spirit with His Word. I've been so busy going about 'my work' this
week, I haven't taken time for 'His Work' and I was very empty!
| Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. |
I want to be open to what the Lord has for me. I want to be refreshed whenever he thinks I need a refreshing, and I want to be able to recognize when I am
not where I should be with God at any given time. Too often we wonder out on the path of self-destruction, and all we should have done was 'wait on God'.
| Psalm 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou [art] the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. |
| Proverbs 8:Prov 8:34 Blessed [is] the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. |
| Nehemiah 9:20 Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst. |
I have ever confidence in my God that he will lead me where he wants me to go, give me the words he wants me to write/say, and he will supply me with my every need. There is nothing too big for my GOD that he can't fix
it and nothing too small that he wouldn't want to fix it.
| John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;
... |
| John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |
| Heavenly Father, I come to the Well tonight for a replenishing of the Spirit, a renewing of the mind, and ask you to fill my cup to overflowing. I want to
be able to minister as you would have me minister with only your word. I want to be empty and void of 'self' and have only your Spirit within me. I want only your Truth
flowing from my lips. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen. |
