This newsletter is finding it's way into your home later than usual this week. I have no excuses, except I haven't found the time to get it out, with all I have been doing. Seems there's not enough time in a day, or even in a week to get all done that needs to be done.
I remember a time when it was easy to have enough time to get all the chores done, and visit with your relatives or neighbors. That was before all the gadgets we now have for doing things quickly - automatic washers/dryers, dishwashers, microwaves - a long list that would be hard to name here. Now, that we have all the latest things in our homes, we can't find time to get things all done in order to visit like we once did. Oh, we can leave it all undone and do whatever pleases us, and then it's here to do when we get back. I'm sure some of us have done that, too, on occasion. But, I often thought to have all these conveniences would mean more time to do the pleasant things in life.
The car has replaced the horse and buggy. The automatic washer has replaced the rub board. The riding lawn mower has replaced the push mower. The dishwasher has replaced the hand washing of dishes (in most homes). In other words, there's always a faster method of doing things. But, we all seem to be in a run all the time - never time to do all the things we have planned in a day.
How often do we think about budgeting our time? God tells us to give Him His part and he will, in turn, give us blessings. We should be willing to give him a tenth of our time, and daily, that means 2.4 hours. I am sure most will fall short of that time. But, I wonder how much time would be added to our day, if we gave God his time? We would probably have time to get everything done, and then have time left over.
Psalms 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
