Do You Want A Revival? Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Revival begins with 'the individual'......"MY PEOPLE".... God would that all the world come to repentance. He choses people that you and I may never think worthy - but God does. Just look at some of the people and their lives that HE chose in times past.
- Abram - to save his own life, he said his wife Sarai was his sister - and delivered her until Pharoah.
Abram's name was later changed to Abraham by the Lord - meaning "father of many nations".
- Moses - his mother sent him floating down the river as a baby to save his life - he was found and raised by Pharoah's daughter - He was a murderer - he killed an Egyptian that had slew a Hebrew, when he thought nobody was looking - yet GOD still visited him. He
used him to bring the people of Israel out of Egypt.
- King David - Jesse's son - he was just a child when he slew the giant. He became a murdered, liar, and commited adultery. Yet, God said, David was 'a man after my own heart'......Acts 13:22.
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
He chose Saul of Tarsus, who put people to death. He became one of the greatest apostles. He chose you and I just like he chose all these people - he called us out from under sin. We have to look at the world differently to have
revival within ourselves.
We are His people with His name, and have the anointing within us to give out to others -
- See the sick healed
- Depression overcome
- miracles in His Name
and much, much more. But we must be ready to humble ourselves before Him.
Becoming humble does not mean becoming a door mat. True humility is submitting to the right authority - JESUS is the head shepherd. We have to realize that everything about us is because of what God did for us - not what we have done - being obedient to
His Spirit and his calling.
True revival will mess up your schedule and mess up your diet. LIFE is where revival is - first, it must start with our humbling ourselves before God - doing all he wants us to do for Him - then the 'revived' come
together in the church house, fill it with revived Christians, and then true revival will start within the walls. People will flock to your church, just as they are flocking to Brownsville and other places where the move of God is happening.
Pray for the will of God in your life - pray without ceasing!
Then God says, "seek my face" - not my hand. Often, we go before GOD only to see what HE can do FOR us, not what WE can do for him - in His Will for our lives.
We must turn from our 'wicked ways'.....which means we must "TURN" 180 degrees from the way we were going - and then continuing in the opposite directions - in the path following Jesus. Repenting is not saying, "Oh, I've gotten caught, so I will change", but
a true turning from wrong to right and following GOD with all our heart and soul.
Usually the reason that we aren't 'revived' is the fact that the 'warfare' is within our heads - we have this 'twisted thinking' pattern. We think that things must continue as they always were - we don't make room
for change - even when GOD puts CHANGE within our paths. We say, "it was good enough for Grandma, then it's good enough for me".......but how do we know it was good enough? We war against the wrong thing. Though we are in the flesh, we do not war against the flesh.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Do you WANT a revival? Then you must count the cost - be willing to humble yourself before God, turn from 'your' ways to God's ways, pray and seek His face and HE will hear from you.....and revival will begin - your land will be healed!!
| Heavenly Father, I desire a reviving within my heart and soul, that you may be the one to direct my paths - to bring revival within me, that I do what You want and not what I desire. Help me to
humble myself under your mighty hand....and follow you every minute of my life, that I can be your instrument in this earth, helping others to find their way to you - to bring solace to those that are hurting, and to help those in need.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen. |
