Follow The Word Being Christ's Disciple
Devotional by Barbara Sanders
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
It's so easy to get set in 'our' ways and not in God's ways. We have such a set schedule we 'think' we must meet each day, in our family planning, jobs, and extra activities.
We often fail to realize the ONE aspect of our daily life that is the most important - spending time with GOD and his WORD.
We get too busy to let God guide us, so we let HIM be the Co-Pilot of our lives. But it came to my Spirit, sitting in Sunday School this morning, what the problem is with most
'christians' today in the church.
Some live as 'carnal christians', letting God be their Co-Pilot - doing what they will, and then praying that He will be there when they call upon him for a favor.
But we need to be a 'spiritual christian', letting GOD be our PILOT in our lives - trusting in Him with ever facet of our lives.
- He wants us to present our lives to HIM...
Romans 12:I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- He wants us to be single-minded.
James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
- He wants us to put our trust in Him.
Psalms 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
- He wants us to forgive.
Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
- Put your faith in Him.
Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
-
Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
God wants our FULL attention, our whole lives, not just part of us.
Heavenly Father, help each of us to focus on you, to renew our minds daily, to feast on your Word. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
