Blinded Eyes Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Isaiah 42:7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
How good is your eye sight? Do you have 20/20 or 30/60 by the opthamologist's definition?
A person can be born blind, whereas he never 'sees' as one who has good eyesight. A person born with two good eyes may
be able to 'see'....but he may have what we call 'spiritual blindness'.
The bible says to 'let us hold fast our profession' [Heb 4:14 kjv]. When we come to God and our born again, we should start to
renew our minds daily in his Word. We should grow from day to day, to be able to speak the Word in any situation. But if we don't
do this, then we are like the blind - unable to see what's going wrong in our daily lives. We 'think' we are okay, until something
suddenly comes our way that we have no control over. We do not have the Word in our hearts in order for it to flow forth from our
lips.
We should not be moved by what we see, but be moved only through God's Word. What he has spoken, he will perform.
Romans 5:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised he was able also to perform."
To be 'spiritual blind' is death to our body! God is our Healer; he's our provider; he's our strength, our joy, etc. But until we come to know the word and be able
to process it through our spirit and bring LIFE to the WORD, then we will be like the blind man - unable to see what God has in store for us, if only we 'believe'!
It's one thing to 'hear' the word, but to KNOW the WORD is life....
There is life and death in the spoken Word....if it's the Word of God, then it will bring forth life, but if it's the word of man, it will bring forth 'death'.
Therefore, let your heart and mind be filled with the Word, that it will come out of your mouth when you speak - that no negative thoughts will stay in you, and you will be
able to cast them down just as the bible teaches.
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
"He opened up my blinded eyes,
And then I had a great surprise,
I'm in a new world,
Since the Lord saved me."
Heavenly Father, I ask that you speak to each one that comes here today, Lord, that they might be enlightened to the
promises of your Word, that they are the children of the most high, the heirs to the promise, and that you have good things in store for them, if only they believe - do not
doubt and keep in your Word, that they might grow. We give you thanks, honor and praise due your name - in Jesus Name, we pray. Amen.
