God's Formula Or Ours? Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Too many times we try to run our lives like a job - everything done precisely as we think it should be done.......at the 'right time'.....and never a chance to change!
Have you ever just turned your life over to God - let him arrange it as he wants? Have you ever reflected on the verse Jeremiah 18:4 where the Lord tells Jeremiah to go down to the potter's house and he will
cause him to hear 'HIS' words?
Just as the potter redid the marred clay he was forming into a vessel, God can take our body of clay and mold and shape it the way he sees fit, if we let him have control. He's a gentleman, and unless you
give the reins over to Him, he'll let you run your life - however you see fit - good or bad. We have to want a change - to let him lead, guide, and direct our lives/paths.
I believe God wants us to throw 'our theology - our man-learned ways' out the door, and let HIM take control...let him remake us the way he can.
Each of us are a part of God's Church - he wants His Church to be mature - to have a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords - to be the righteousness of God. We can't accomplish this through
the ways of man - but we can, through the Holy Spirit - letting Him guide us into all truth!!
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Heavenly Father, we come to you, turning our lives over to your capable hands. We realize we can't do anything with ourselves, but you are able to do
exceedingly, abundantly above anything we ask or think. Help us to leave our lives, our shaping with you - to realize that you are the one who has made
us, who knows our capabilites, our weaknesses, and can mold us into the vessel of honor for your glory. Help us to leave our cares upon your shoulders,
never to again try to do things 'our way'...but always rely on the WORD and the HOLY SPIRIT for guidance in all areas of our lives!! We ask this in Jesus
name, and we give you the honor, glory, and praise due your precious name. Amen. |
