Who Are You Trusting?
Weekly devotional by Barbara Sanders
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Today, we see a lots of hype about One World Order, the government taking over everything we've ever had, the concentration camps that are supposedly out there - most of us just
haven't seen one yet - and most of all the Y2K situation that faces us this next year.
If we surf the internet, we will see many instances where people are advising us to go out and store up two years of groceries, clothes to fit our families, and anything else you can think you
might need for two whole years. This is highly impossible for most of us and surely for people with young kids. This would mean buying ahead of time shoes to fit each kid and clothes to fit. Hand-me-downs
are fine; but you can only give those to the younger ones; what about the older children?
The internet sites will direct you to all the places you can buy these products "for a fee". You will also be directed to places where you can buy any number of books on the coming Y2K fiasco that's about to
upset our computerized world.
In the Christian world, there seems to be a warning that perhaps this will be the beginning of the end, that rapture is upon us. But yet, lots of these people writing these books ARE Christians!! Howbeit that they
are making a profit out of telling us about the Y2K and what we should be doing - if they think that the Lord is indeed returning quickly? Or why are they and the food places heardly telling us to get the books and their food
supplies early - spending the money we might need at a later date? WHAT are they doing to do with the money - IF this doesn't 'pan out'? Laugh all the way to the bank.
TRUSTING THE LORD
FOLKS, there comes a time we need to wake up and put our TRUST in the Almighty GOD! Seems we are looking at 'what man can do for us'...and listening to 'what man thinks' about all this, rather than relying on the
enlightening of the Holy Spirit or to what HE can do for us.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
It's time we quit letting the adversary stir up the fear within us and make us worry about things that are beyond our control. Take charge of our lives - TRUST the Living God and lean on him,
not our own understanding!! He said he'd 'never leave thee nor forsake thee' - Hebrews 13:5. When are we going to "take Him at His Word"...begin to live our lives as though we believe what he has said? When are we going to
humble ourselves and pray to Him like we've never prayed before - expecting Him to do what he has promised, Heal our Land? Isn't GOD still able to do all he has said he will do? Isn't He still the same God he was years
ago? Doesn't His Word say He never changes - the same yesterday, today and tomorrow?? Well, why don't we 'take up our cross'...follow Him, and act like HE CAN/Will - if we DO??

|Heavenly Father, help us, your people, begin to fully trust in your power to control the universe, everything that lies within it. Help us to
turn our eyes towards you, trusting, fully trusting in your Word, praying for this nation, it's leaders, our families, like we've never prayed before, and staying there until we see results!!
Help us to be obedient to whatever you ask of us, that our need will be met whatever comes upon this earth. Help us not to take our eyes off of you and the Truth and get them on the ways of this world
and the things that we don't understand. Help us to rely fully upon you, give our lives to you fully. We will give you the glory, honor and praise due your name. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen. |
