FORWARD: PREPARING FOR THE STORM
John E. Ruffle |
During
April 1999 right up until the end of the month,
my computer was down, so I was unable to
communicate via email at all - the 4th May email
was the first I sent to Littleton after the
tragedy (See "THE COLUMBINE FILES No.
1" at this site.) However, the following
snip was part of what I sent to a well-respected
pastor in Littleton on 2nd March 1999 - over a
month before the tragedy. I dont have the
liberty to share the main text, but I will share
the closing, which I trust will bring comfort to
you, especially in the light of what was to
happen:
2nd March 1999
...whatever the
Lord is doing,
just know that He majors
in
PERFECT works
and
PERFECT ways,
and
He's the One
who will
PERFECT His work in us..."

I wrote these
words to my friend and
mentor Rev. Bruce Porter,
Founding Pastor of
Celebration Christian
Centre, Littleton,
Colorado. These
COLUMBINE
FILES document my
personal reflections on
that tragedy, as it
impacted the world in the
closing year of a
millennium. I use
selections from my
personal letters, poetry
and other reflections.
(Edited in some cases to
protect individual
privacy). My prayer is
that the year 2000 will
witness (in the words of
the old Book of Common
Prayer) a rising up of
THE CHURCH MILITANT
HERE ON EARTH as we
bring down forces of
darkness and rise up in
the awesome strength of
Jesus Christ, and that we
might cry out that even
older prayer: And
now, Lord, behold their
threatening: and grant
unto thy servants, that
with all boldness they
may speak thy
word.. (see Acts
4:24-37)
