Change Or Exchange? Our Thoughts:
My husband and I were shopping in Lowe's this afternoon, picking up a few things.
Something we were discussing, going down the aisle, brought up changing and exchanging.
In our lives, we are constantly 'changing' the light bulb in the lamps, the tires on our car, our clothes, the way we do our
hair from time to time, and on and on. We 'exchange' those goods we buy that we aren't able to use, that don't meet our expectations, or the clothes
that don't fit, after we get them home.
I began to think about the changing and exchanging that we do as Christians. We change our habits, our speech, and other things that the
Holy Spirit causes us to realize we have to change. We 'exchange' the BAD habits for good ones, and the speech of the 'old man' for that of the 'born-again'
Christian. And, we begin to realize how much we don't really know that we thought we did. It suddenly becomes clear, through scripture, that we are no longer that
sinner we once were, but we are a 'new creature' in Christ - a blood-bought, free, servant of God!
God's Thoughts:
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, thank you for leading me in the direction of change, so I could live a stronger and more effective Christian life. I give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
