With life's struggles and temptations, we often get burdened down with weight we can't carry
by ourselves. The worldly person will burden themselves down for wealth and honors. Satan makes a slave out of those kind of people.
The sinner is heavy laden with guilt and terror. The tempted Christian also has burdens.
The Lord invites all who will to come to Him for rest for their souls. He gives the gospel call to 'come unto me', to those that need his rest. Feeling their guilt and misery, and believing
his love and power to help, they seek him in fervent prayer.
It is in the best interest of sinners laden down with guilt to answer the gospel call from God. All who thus come will receive rest as Christ's gift, and obtain peace and comfort
in their hearts. They must take his yoke, and submit to his authority. He accepts the willing servant, however imperfect the services. He will never force us to obey, for we might draw near to Jesus with our lips, but it's in vain that we do, when our heart is far from Him.
God's Thoughts:
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we come to you for rest, and lay our burdens at your feet. Help us be willing and obedient servants. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
