Feed My Flock
Our Thoughts:
On Labor Day each year, we have a family reunion on my husband's side. People
from all parts of the state come to join in the get-together. There is food enough to feed an army, and when you leave, if you haven't eaten
it's your fault! Such an array of goodies that you can't pass up, even though you know you're eating too much.
Monday was no different this year. One sister, famous for her chicken and dressing didn't let us down this year. There were dishes
of an assortment of salads, slaws, meats, beans and peas, breads, and even pizza for the young!
Fellowship is on the top of the high priority list at the get-together also. Most of us don't see each other during the year. So, when we all gather for the reunion,
everyone has to talk to everybody else. We all get caught up, or maybe, caught up, on the information of each family member. We discuss the family, the new borns (there was one there this year, born to Bill's niece),
computers, and genealogy. We even start in on singing and get some of us get around to the Bible. But, of course, we start off with prayer every year. This is a tradition that is carried on by the eldest member of the family.
But, whatever we do, we surely 'feed the flock'!
As Christians, we are also to feed the flock. We aren't to lord over the ones we are 'feeding', but do it in a loving manner. God wants us to be a good example to the people.
God's Thoughts:
1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
Ezekiel 34:15 I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help each of us be a better example of the kind of Christian that people will listen to about your Word. Help us share more gracefully and bring others to the saving knowledge of you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
