Shut Your Mouth! Our Thoughts:
So many speak swelling words, trying to impress someone. Those words usually are as empty and void of content, as a dark cave.
Dark caves usually do have content - bats. Like those bats, the devil steals from us, everytime we speak words that aren't true.
Our words speak to satan. We don't realize, at times, the effect our words are having on our lives. We open our mouth at times, without engaging our brain. We say things without thinking of the consequences our words will bring.
Our senseless words harm others, and we don't even realize what's happening. And, this really gives satan room to work.
If one would consider what we are about to say, before opening our mouth, no doubt, lots of things would never be said. Many arguments and hurt feelings would be avoided. Satan would have lots less material with which to work in our lives.
Consider thinking, praying, before speaking. At times, we also need to guard against hurting someone by not speaking what we really know to be true. It's better to keep some things to ourselves, keep our mouth shut, rather than opening our mouths, spouting
hurting words, and having to bear the consequence. We can share these thoughts with God, and let him work it out with the other person. That way, feelings are saved, and friendships are not lost.
God's Thoughts:
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Psalms 141:3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help me guard my tongue, not speaking swelling words, only the wisdom from you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
