Peanuts Or Gold? Our Thoughts:
There is always something in the world to 'try your faith', even if it's only PEANUTS! Yes, I said, peanuts. I know this is
a food grown in the ground, but it can 'arise' and 'go forth', and choke what you really want to accomplish for the Lord. Just ask my friend, who distributes a Christian newsletter, as I do, from her
web site. We work our hands to the bone, so to speak, to get out to the world what the Lord wants us to share. Oh, each newsletter does reach countless people who enjoy and read, and pass on, this bit of
information that we acquire for them each week. But, to her, it looks as PEANUTS, when she hears from other newsletters on the amount of people they are reaching with their own newsletter. It's a discouragement, in
that she is only getting about an eighth of the amount this person is getting. But, she, in comparison to me, is getting five times the subscribers that my newsletter is getting at the moment.
Let's digress. God is working through our sites, and through our newsletters. This should be foremost on our mind. But, satan has a time of putting depression on a Christian, to make he/she think that
they aren't do all that they are capable of doing for the Lord - even with 'peanuts'. Sounds funny, right? Well, it's really not to someone who works as hard as she does to do her best for the Lord in her online ministry.
But, I believe GOD will use her 'gold' that she works hard for to reach those of the world who need what she has to offer. It may seem like 'peanuts' to her, but one man's trash is another man's treasure. Her PEANUTS ministry
may be the GOLD in the world that's hurting. Let us not be so soon to pass judgement on what seems a failure to us, in our ministry, in that GOD does what he wants done through us, in His timing, not ours. If we are to reach
millions, then we will. Faith and patience has a work in our ministry as well.
God's Thoughts:
Psalms 119:72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us view what we have to give to the world from you as gold, in a world where some will settle for peanuts. Thank you for giving us the Word to live by, the Holy Spirit to comfort us, and faith to know that You are real, in a world of uncertainty. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
