Patience, where are you? Do you feel like PATIENCE is a person, at times? I sure wish Patience would
show up, especially when waiting in the long lines at the grocery store. The cashier is slow; the products don't have a price code on them. What more can happen? How much
more can your patience be tried?
The Word declares that we go through nothing that God hasn't already gone through. He was tempted and tried, and no guile was found in his mouth. The people in his
own community didn't believe in Him. Life wasn't a bed of roses for Jesus; yet, He was always willing to wait, to listen, to help when there was a need. I don't find where He grumbled
over anything that came His way.
We, on the other hand, lose our cool more often than we'd like to admit. Remember the last time someone cut you off in traffic? What did you do? Pray for him/her? Be honest!
What about the terrible waitress that couldn't get your order right, or never came back to bring you another cup of coffee? I am sure you remembered her when you left your tip, if you even left one!
All the little things that come our way, that really feel like mountains at the time, are trials of our faith and patience. We don't always answer them in the way we should. We
lose our PATIENCE - it gets behind the 'thinker', and we perhaps say things or do things that aren't becoming of Christianity. After all, we are to be 'new creatures in Christ'. The adversary knows
that, and, therefore, puts things in our paths that would cause us to stumble.
I am sure your memory is working overtime, at the moment, letting you know all those times that you've done or said the wrong thing - conscience is a good thing!
Can you imagine living without a conscience? I know there are those that try to depress it, but it shows up everytime you do something you shouldn't. That's why we should bring
PATIENCE 'home', and use _her_ more often. Patience is the _key_ to a better life! Patience will _unlock the door_ to better understanding of ourselves, of our fellow man. So, next time you feel
like using the tongue to blast someone (remember that road situation! or the rebellious child?), ask PATIENCE to take over, and you won't be sorry you did!
God's Thoughts:
Ro:15:4: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we are mere mortals, needing your help. Help us retain our patience, when we are faced with obstacles in life that
suppress our patience and bring out the worse in us. Teach us your ways, your precepts, in order to walk a more perfect walk with you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
