Hang 'Um Out To Dry! Our Thoughts:
I know I'm not alone in my thinking today. Christmas is over, the tree is still up, and lots of things need cleaning.
The house is in a mess, and nobody wants to help clean. Instead, they run in and out, throwing their coats and shoes wherever they land, when they leave their hands. Then, the next time they
feel a need to head outdoors, they forget they have on new _white_ socks, and head out to the trampoline. The trampoline is damp, resulting in BLACK socks, and clorox probably won't do the job
to get them clean. But, does this bother kids? No; after all, they are only 'white socks', you can wash them, and you can also buy more. What kind of kids are we raising, that think we all grow
'money trees'?
As I told my husband, we can't blame all of this stubborn behavior on the little ones. After all, kids only imitate that which they see. We are to train our kids in the fashion we want them
to grow and live, and they won't forget it. Huh, you say? Well, it's the truth, not that they don't 'stray'. I guess it's the 'straying' with which we have a hard time, since they are supposed to be 'perfect',
and mind everytime, when we make the request to do certain things.
All I asked was that the white socks stay on the feet, IN the shoes, and not on the ground or trampoline. And, I asked that they NOT walk in water; you get your shoes, socks, and feet wet that way.
This is cold weather, and they don't have a dresser drawer full of socks at Nanny's house. I have to constantly wash and try to clean those white socks, which is an almost impossible task!! But, this all hits on deaf
ears. So, I'm getting to the point that I'm going to 'hang them out to dry'. That, in layman's terms, means, they are about to be in a heap of trouble.
Children have a mind of their own, as do adults. And, we shouldn't find it strange for them to refuse to do what we ask. After all, are we perfect before God, in that we do everything that he asks of his children?
I would venture to say not at all. So, children model after their parents. We should try to model after our Heavenly Father more, so perfection would show up in our kids more often.
God's Thoughts:
Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Psalms 37:37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us become more perfect models for our children, that they will want to follow in our footsteps. Teach us your ways, that we will walk in them. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
