A New Day - A New Year January 1,
2001 Our Thoughts:
This is not only a new day, but a brand new year. And, we woke up to snow in Alabama, with more to come.
The whole atmosphere seems to be as white as the yards and trees. The children have a great time in the snow. Our grandchildren have been out all morning, pulling the sled behind the
three wheeler. Our front yard is full of three wheeler paths, making it look like a race track.
Snow, to the children, is a blessing. They love to get out and play in it, throw snow balls, and build snow men. And, I have to admit, when I was young, I loved it.
But, snow can also be a curse. It can snow enough to keep you in your home, unable to get out and get groceries, or perhaps get to a doctor, if needed. Lots of people are caught
off guard, when a winter storm hits in the south. It also presents lots of hazards on the roads, especially down her in the south, where people aren't really used to getting too much snow. We don't have snow plows to keep it off our highways. We don't own snow blowers to
get it off the driveways.
The Lord presents us with many blessings, if we obey the call to repentance, and keep the faith, obeying his commandments. And, they aren't hard to keep, for He will help us. But, if we don't obey his commandments, then His curse will come upon us.
So, let's not harden our hearts, but keep the faith in Jesus Christ, being thankfully for all blessings sent our way this year.
God's Thoughts:
Deuteronomy 11:26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
Deuteronomy 11:27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
Deuteronomy 11:28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for all the blessings you have given us. Keep us safe from all harm through the new year, and our minds stayed on you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
