Our Greatest Need Our Thoughts:
Life seems to always have us in some kind of need. Some need material things, such as a house to live in,
a car to drive, adequate clothing for the seasons, or perhaps food to fill hungry mouths. We look at others and think, how do they afford all the luxury items they have? We feel we know
that they don't make the money to obtain such items, and just decide they get it on credit. Perhaps they do, or perhaps they get those items through other means. It really doesn't matter. We
just know that we have a need that isn't being met at the moment. We can't see a way of meeting that need without a miracle.
With all the material needs, we sometimes don't stop and think that perhaps are greatest need is to know what God has set forth in His Word for our lives. It's hard to focus on
the Word, when your body is in need of food or clothing, or it seems life can't go on without needed transportation. But, here is where we miss the mark. We need to get in the Word, study the Word, and
get it into our whole being. You will find that God has set forth a plan for our lives within the scripture. It is more of a need than even the air we breathe. Without the Word, one is a fallen man. To
recover from this state, we need the Word. To come against the adversary, we need the Word. To put our lives on the correct path to true salvation, we are in need of the Word. His Word will enlighten our
eyes and hearts, if we read it daily and heed his calling.
God's Thoughts:
Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us realize we are in need of your Word daily. Without the Word to guide us, we are but mere men, struggling to get by in a dark world. Thank you for giving us the Word for guidance. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
