We are always chasing something in life. You chase your kids down, when they don't want to be caught. The kids chase after the
parents, in hopes they will play with them.
I have read and am re-reading Tommy Tenney's book, 'The God Chasers'. He says a God chaser is 'an individual whose hunger exceeds his reach'. Too many times, in our spiritual life, we stop
chasing before we have reached our goal. As in our lives, we just give up - there is no more 'chase' left in us.
Think of all the dreams you've had, and never chased them to make them come true. David chased after a dream - the Bible says he was 'a man after mine own heart' [Acts 13:22]. David said that 'my soul followeth hard after thee' [ Psalms 63:8 ].
Do you want to know God more, have Him move in your life more - to have Him close up and very accessible in your life? You realize satan would have you stay right where you are, and not have that hunger and passion to know God more intimately. We have to 'die daily
to our sins, in order to stay close to God. We have to want to know him intimately, to follow after Him, regardless of what me might face in reality. A God chaser has to forget the circumstances and think about the outcome. Forget about looking foolish in the eyes of the world,
and lay hold on the treasures of God.
God's Thoughts:
Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, I want to know You more intimately, to be a follower after you. Help me keep my eyes on You instead of the problems that arise in life. I want to be like David, after your own heart! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
