Mind Of Our Own

dotOur Thoughts:

I had forgotten just how strong a young child can be in their words and thoughts until keeping my youngest grandson the other night. He is a precious child; but, like all children, has a way with words. As long as he wants to do what you want, he's fine. But, just try telling him to do something that he doesn't want to do, then it's another story! We tried taking off his shoes in order to give him a bath, or just change his pants, and it was a very strong "NO"! "Shoes on" we heard time and time again! We finally had to 'man handle' him; in other words, we just took them off, to his strong protests! And, again, when trying to clothe him after his bath, he let us know right quick that it was 'my turn'. In other words, at two, he's very capable of letting anyone know that he is 'in charge' of his body and his clothes!

Sometimes, in our spiritual life, we are the very same way with the Lord. We realize He would probably do better than we could, but we don't want to give up our independence. We want to have complete control of the outcome. It doesn't matter that the outcome might not be exactly as we planned; all we know is the fact we WERE in charge. After the fact, we realize that, had we listened to God, we wouldn't have been in the situation that we have gotten ourselves into, and the outcome would have been according to 'His will'. But, man has a habit of not 'doing' when we should be 'listening'. Our hands and mouth sometimes gets ahead of our mind and spirit.

We need to meditate on God's Word, find out His will for our lives, in every situation, and begin to listen more closely to what He wants for us. We need only act when He says it is okay to act; speak only when He gives us words to speak.

dotGod's Thoughts:

Psalms 119:15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

dotOur Cup:

Heavenly Father, we want to do thy will. Help us learn to pray and listen for an answer, before we act in our lives. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
