A Fearless Bird! Our Thoughts:
As I watched the birds at the feeder this morning, I was amazed at just how much birds are like people. This one bird, which I had thought to be a 'nice' bird,
seemed to want to be alone on the feeder. He would sit with a seed in his mouth, guarding the perch. Everytime another bird happened to light upon the bird feeder, this particular bird would strike out at him with his bill. Or, he would flutter, as if angry that this bird
would even think of encroaching on _his_ territory!
I was amazed at the similarities in that one bird and people. A child will take over a toy, whether it is his/hers or not, and defy anyone to touch it. I've often heard, "No, MINE"! And, you know that child means business. Adults are just as bad. We 'attach' ourselves to a
particular pew in church. Then, when someone comes in that doesn't realize that this seat is 'taken', we get all upset. We've been denied are 'rightful seat', and we lose our cool. At other times, in stores, we make sure we are first in line, and there is NO way we will let someone else in front of us.
I've seen people step out of line, in a crowded store, and tell someone to 'hold' their place; they have to check on something else. That person thinks that it's 'their right' to that spot; after all, they stood there for awhile.
Fear has no place in our lives. I watched the birds, fearlessly fly right back down and try to feed. They didn't let that one little bird take over and keep them from their rightful place on that feeder. We shouldn't let fear rule our lives either. We shouldn't
be afraid to speak up, when a wrong is done. I don't think God wants us to be door mats for anyone. You have a right to get upset, when someone does you wrong, without getting mean. The only fear we should have is of God, that we do right in His sight. We are not to take advantage of people. If we fear
God, then we will be doing right towards others. We could do well to learn from the birds. Don't let the 'bullies' in your life ruin your life. Serve God, do right to others, and trust God to take care of those that try to ramrod you with fear!
God's Thoughts:
Leviticus 25:17 Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us to be able not to fear man. He has no control over us. Teach us to trust you with all the problems that the 'bullies' in life send our way. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
