Daily Dose of God's Word
At Barbara's Entourage The Greatest Lawyer of All Time! Our Thoughts:
As far back as I can remember, we went to church. We attended every night service, and every revival. Sometimes, those revivals were weeks long, but we enjoyed every minute of them. Or, should I say, as children, almost every minute? I can remember, as the minister
would near the ending of the sermon, we would start squirming on our seats. We knew what he would come out with last, as he had an altar call for the lost. We always heard 'hell fire and brimstone'. It would go like this, "If you don't get saved, you're going straight to hell." You talk about scaring the socks off the youngsters!
As I look back at those days, it's not with distaste or anything. The ministers meant well, but I see now that satan had a hand in that. He knew, that if he could get you scared enough NOT to return to church, then he had you. Often times, that's what happened, if you weren't a strong individual - not just a child, but an adult.
That person could 'see' things in the ministers life that he didn't feel was right, and there you had this person telling 'you' that, if you didn't seek the Lord and become a Christian 'like him',then you were going straight to hell. Now, we know it was satan planting all those thoughts in our heads, just to deter us from becoming
a dedicated Christian, a follower of the Lord.
Since those days, we've found that, sure, if we don't come to God, get to know Him as our personal Savior, then we will not spend eternity with Him. But, we've also learned, through much study, that God doesn't want anyone to be left out. He wants us to come to Him, and He certainly knows that we aren't perfect, and that we
won't be able to live a spotless life within our selves. But, as a Christian we have the Spirit of God within us, to help lead, guide, and direct our paths. We also understand, that if we do make a mistake, and ask forgiveness, that we have Jesus standing in for us as our lawyer. What better lawyer could one want!
God's Thoughts:
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us live a sinless life. But, if we falter, help us to realize that we can come to the greatest lawyer of all times, and receive forgiveness. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
