How many times did you hear 'a little dab will do you', when you were a child? The lotion was a great example. You began to pump it from the jar, or
mash the tube, only to hear, 'a little dab will do you, it goes a long way'. Usually that was right! Still, it's hard now, as an adult, not to get more lotion on my hands than I need. Guess that
stems from my childhood days. Then, there was the butter; I'm a butter lover! But, I could only have as much as Mother thought I needed. After all, we weren't rich; the butter had to last until the
next time we bought groceries. What does a child know? They just want what they want, when they want it, period! I have grandchildren that don't understand that you don't waste, and you only get out what you can eat, in your
plate.
There are people who think that same way about spiritual things. They get just a dab of what it means to be a Christian and think that's all they need to get them through. But this is so untrue. We are to be 'new creatures' [ II Corn 5:17 ] in Him, and should want to
be close to Him, learn all we can, in order to live a righteous life. God doesn't want just a part of us; He wants ALL of us. We should want ALL of HIM as well.
A little dab of butter may be okay for your biscuit, but, for a soul to be free and at peace, you need more than
a dab of spirituality - you need God in ever aspect of your life. You may trod along the path, doing fairly well, with a little dab, but you will never excel, unless you give your whole life to God. Having only a _dab_ is like taking only ONE bite from an apple. Your body yearns for more,
but you sustain from eating the rest of the apple. For the apple to do you much good, you need to eat it all. It's that way with God; for Him to be completely effective in your daily life, you need ALL of Him.
God's Thoughts:
Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help me to give my whole life to you, to walk as close as I can with you. Lead, guide, and direct my path so I will stay close to you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
