This afternoon, we had friends over for fellowship and dinner. We have been friends with this couple for many years. And, each time we get together, it just
seems that we haven't been together in ages - we never run out of things to talk about! It's just a joy to be around them. And, they say the same about us. And, as quick as we
each get home, we quickly send an email, saying how much we've enjoyed the night and the meal.
We've gone through many friends during our MANY years of marriage. Some were friends while my husband was in the Air Force, and we didn't keep in contact afterwards.
We've had friends since being out of the service, and some kept in contact, while others didn't. Sometimes we want to keep in contact, but perhaps the other people would rather go their
separate ways. There's no way we can make a person be our friend.
Friends come and go throughout our lives. But, there is one friend that you can have that will never leave or forsake you. Jesus will never forsake those that love and trust Him.
John 15:4 says, "Abide in me and I abide in you". He was a friend on earth, and will remain our friend, as long as we do what He commands.
God's Thoughts:
Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, teach us how to be the kind of friend that you would have us be. Teach us your ways and help us love like you love. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
