People jump into things without realizing what the result of their actions will be. Perhaps it doesn't bother most, but I want to know the price I'm
going to have to pay for anything. I stay out of situations that will get me in trouble, make me look suspicious, or, in any way, cast a shadow on my life. I
was brought up to fear the Lord, and to fear my parents. I knew that, if I ever got into trouble, I'd reap more trouble from my parents than anyone else.
You hear so much about crime that's committed by teenagers, and sometimes youngsters. I often wonder what went wrong, where the parents are, or how did they raise those children.
Are they church goers? Were the children taught biblical values?
A friend has had her house broken into several times. They suspected this one young guy, but hadn't been able to prove it. And, then, an uncanny thing happened. The son was home, and this
guy broke into their home. The son just hid and waited to see what he would do. He followed his usual pattern, and then left, and the son confronted him. Of course, this guy is now saying he did nothing
wrong. He is unwilling to take responsibility for his actions.
When we do something that is unlawful, there is a penalty, a price to pay. We need to 'count the cost' before we undertake something we know to be wrong. We will certainly be found out, and
have a price to pay.
In our spiritual walk, we need to count the cost, and walk accordingly. We need to be the 'light' in the darkness for sinners, the 'good salt of the earth', in order to season those around us with
the savor of Jesus. If we become what God would have us be, then we will draw others to Him.
God's Thoughts:
Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us count the cost of our walk with you, and walk accordingly. Help us be the good salt of the earth, spreading your Word every where we go. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
