Everywhere you go, you hear people talking about going on a diet. They want to be 'slim and trim', but lack the initative to stay on the 'correct diet', which
should be made up of the right proportions of food from the various food groups. This way, with adequate exercise, we could maintain the correct body weight, and maintain that youthful figure.
But, the flesh overwhelms us, and we lose the battle, most of the time.
In our spiritual walk with God, we also need to be on the correct diet. But, even that seems to be a problem with lots of professing Christians. The proper diet for a Christian will
eliminate the malice, guile, hyprocrisies, envies, and evil speakings in our life. The enemy is constantly on our trail, speaking in our ears, and sometimes we listen. We gossip, when we should be keeping
our mouths shut, or building up a person, rather than speaking things of which we only know second hand. Second hand truths are no truths at all, but lies that get us in trouble.
We become jealous of others, envying their possessions or the quality of life they have. Again, the enemy uses this to arouse us to speak evil of our fellow man, because 'surely, he couldn't be getting that
legally!' You know you've heard those same words come up in your mind! You see a person that, on the outside, has never displayed the ability to save or make something of themselves; yet, there they are, sporting a new car.
Just how in the world do they do that?
Perhaps one would be best served in thanking God that the person has the new car, and they are doing so well in their life. Ask God to remove all those ill feelings, those envious feelings, and help you not covet another's
possessions. This will get you well on the way to a proper diet of a Christian and in good standing with God.
God's Thoughts:
1 Peter 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, remove all ill feelings, envy, and all guile from my heart and mouth. Help me be more like you, in my every day life. I give you thanks and praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
