Options: Rain or Snow? March 20,
2001 Our Thoughts:
Which would you choose, if you were asked - rain or snow? I love rain, because it's provided such a great background for sleep! But, I don't like the storms it
sometimes brings. And, I love the beautiful white snow, that makes everything appear clean. But, it too, can have such reprecussions - wrecks on the roads, and the inability to get around like you are used to, when it
comes to our part of the country.
We all know that we don't have a choice as to which we get at any given time. Take this morning, for instance. Last night I had read that a certain part of Alabama, northeast of us, including my daughter, would
have snow this morning. But, that really didn't bother me. After all, it was too warm for snow, or though we thought! But, the phone rang at 5:35 AM and my daughter said, "The schools are out. My car is covered with snow - what do I do?"
To which I said, "Stay home, I suppose." This was very unexpected on her part. It had been too late, when I found out through email from our local weather man that her area was included in the snow forecast. But, the other thing is this - WE
woke up to rain, rain, and more rain, and it's still raining. This time of year, only one day short of Spring, it is very unpredictable as to what you may see during the course of a day!
We may not want rain, or think we need it. We may not like the snow, and hope it will soon disappear, that is, all but the school kids who are out of school for the day. But, God knows just exactly what we need,
and when we need it. He said it would rain on the just and the unjust, and I suppose that goes for snow as well. We need not question our Father, because He is in control. He knows our daily needs, as well as our long term needs. The rain
may be drowning our flowers, grass, and yards, but it is filling the lakes and rivers and ponds with much needed water. Later this year, we may be thanking God for all the early rain. The snow also will turn into water, wherever it has fallen.
We need to thank God for the rain and snow, because He knows our needs and supplies those needs.
God's Thoughts:
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, the rain and snow come. Sometimes we think it's too much, but we have to put our trust in you, that YOU know the amount we need, and when we need it. You have it all under control. For this, we give you thanks. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
