Turn Down A Gift?

Our Thoughts:

Children love gifts, and I doubt there is a one that would turn them down. Even adults love gifts, and I've yet to meet one that wouldn't like a gift once in awhile. I know I do! I look forward to gift-giving, and receiving!

But, when it comes to blessing, where do we stand? God promised Abram blessings. In fact, God changed his name to Abraham, the Father of many nations. He later blessed him and Sarah with a son in their old age, just when we'd expect to be dying, and way too old to conceive. But, with God, all things are possible. [ Mark 10:27 ]

In the Old Testament, there is a young man of whom we know hardly anything. But, he gets a handle on prayer. He's not afraid to ask God for His blessings, although His name means 'sorrow'. He goes head strong into His prayer below:

I Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
