Prayer Our Thoughts:
Prayer is our personal communication directly with God. It should be sincere and given with humility. We should come to God with our thoughts centered on Him, with our trust placed entirely in His ability to
answer our prayers. The scripture says to 'ask and you shall receive, that your joy might be full'. [ John 16:24 ]
Our prayer suggests a belief in God, that He holds the key to all things, and that He will hear us, when we pray. Some people, although they pray to God, sometimes aren't hopeful in their prayers. It is sort of a duty to pray, but they put their trust more
in other things - doctors, for instance. We all know doctors are great, and they do seem to 'save' people. Yet, as Christians, we know that GOD gives them their ability, and most doctors recognize that the saving of life is from the heavenly Father. They are only His instruments.
Praying is done at different times for different things - asking, when we are in need; thanks for prayers answered, or expecting a certain prayer to be answered; or, perhaps, worshipping the Lord in prayer, showing God that He is worthy of praise, because we do believe He
does answer prayer.
In I Samuel 1:15, Hannah 'poured out her soul' to the Lord. How long has it been since you've 'poured out your soul' to the Lord, and let Him know exactly what you feel? He knows, but He is waiting for us to let Him know, in our own words. God loves to hear from His people,
to be praised by His people. Prayer doesn't have to be set in concrete; that is, it doesn't have to be the same thing every time you pray. TALK to God; let Him hear you, as His child, just as you would have approached your own father on earth.
Then, there is the time that the believers in Jersualem prayed and believed, and God opened the prison doors, and Peter was set free. Prayer can and does change things! We should never pray and then think, 'will God answer?'; rather, we should come to God with the assumption that HE
does answer prayer, and that He is listening, and will answer ours! There is certainly nothing too large or too small for God - so pray sincerely and with faith!
God's Thoughts:
Psalms 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, teach us to pray your way. Help us to believe and trust in your ability to answer those prayers, when we pray. Doubt and fear sometimes hits us, because of the enemy. Help us to overcome those doubts and fears. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
