Resurrection Christ April 13,
2001 Our Thoughts:
Jesus was taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb. Mary Magdalene, along with Mary, went to the tomb later, carrying sweet spices with which to anoint his body. When they arrived, they found the
stone rolled away and the tomb was empty. The tomb couldn't hold Jesus! The angel of the Lord was there, and told them that He was gone, that he had risen! He had risen, just as He had said he would! He urged
them to go tell the disciples that Jesus had risen from the dead, and he would be in Galilee.
Jesus began to appear to the people, after he rose from the grave. Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene. She then went and told the others that she had been with Jesus, and they wept. Two of the disciples later saw Jesus on the road to Damascus. The eleven faithful disciples met him in Jerusalem and
in Galilee. He stayed on earth the next forty days and taught the disciples.
The disciples were convinced, through the Resurrection of Christ, that he was indeed the Messiah, not just the one that announced the coming Kingdom of God. They believed that He would indeed begin to free the people of their suffering and evil. They also believed he would indeed return and complete His work.
The followers of Jesus did not accept his death as the end of him. They were certain that he did truly come back from the dead, and did rise to heaven. Many people were truly convinced He was the Son of God, after they heard of his Resurrection.
God's Thoughts:
Matthew 20:19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son, that, through his death and resurrection, we could be saved. We give you honor, praise, and the glory due your name. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
