Sometimes our desires aren't really what we 'long for'. I desire to have a close relationship with God. But, at times, I long for
a quiet place to think, to get away from the world - do absolutely nothing! But, how many times in life are we afforded the luxury of doing nothing?
Job, in all his misery, longed for death. He requested that God let him die. He wanted out of here! But, I am sure his desire was to be pleasing to God, whatever the
answer was to his 'longing'.
Can you picture yourself 'longing' to die? What if God gave into all the things we say, when our tongue wags uncontrollably? I am sure there would be lots of people 'checking out'
before they desired! We often just talk 'off the top of our heads', not really realizing the impact of our conversation. Thank God for mercy!
Is your desire to be like God, to be so close you can feel his tender touch? God wants us to reach out and 'touch Him' with our prayers, our worship to Him, and our praises. Every day should
be one more day that brings us closer to our desires.
God's Thoughts:
Job 6:8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, my main desire is to be pleasing to you. Help me reach this goal each day. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
