When we set out to do something, we usually have confidence that we can achieve the end results we want. It's because we have
conditioned ourselves to believing in ourselves, and what we have learned.
When David went out to meet Goliath, he didn't go out with his own strength and confidence. He was too small a boy to believe that, within himself, he could accomplish the
task set before him. In his own power, there is no way that David could have slew the giant! He was laughed at; after all, he was a 'mere child'! Who was he to think that he could beat
his brothers or more experienced men in slaying that Philistine!! No way!
But David knew where his confidence was. He realized he was only carrying out orders, and directed by God in the task. He trusted in God and His Word to carry him through safely, and he knew
he would be the one standing at the end of the day.
Often times, armed with our 'sling and rock', we go out to fight the world. But, we've forgotten to take the main ingredient to do the task. Instead of the power of God, we've relied
on self to accomplish the task. But, we fail, because we've not placed our confidence in the one who makes it all possible, the one that provides the power to achieve. Christ Jesus should be our mainstay, the
one in whom all confidence is placed. Man can do nothing without the help of God.
God's Thoughts:
Psalms 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, we fail, when we forget to place our trust in you. Guide us, Lord, in your ways, and help us to truly believe that you alone is where we should always place our confidence. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
