Own Your Anger Our Thoughts:
I know that I'm not the only one who has had someone cut you off in traffic. You want to give them a piece of your mind. But, most of us have learned to hold our temper, and not go chasing out after the perpetrator. Many have, only to be met with foul play: a gun was waiting on the
other end!
Being a Mother, I know how easily one can get angry! You tell your child to do something, and you are met with a blank stare, as though they don't hear a word you say. And, they continue to 'not listen', as you try to get their attention. It's hard to hold back and not get really mad! We aren't perfect yet, so most of us
have, on occasion, lashed out with our tongue to our children. Then, we feel badly that we haven't set a good example in front of them. After all, children to mimic the actions of their parents some day!
The Bible says to 'anger and sin not'. If it was impossible to do, then God wouldn't have commanded us to do so. He has cautioned us to get the Word within us, to be armed for the wiles of the devil, when he 'comes to call'. And, as long as we are living, he surely will do that, at every opportunity! And, we give him more
opportunities than we should. Actually, we should guard against ever giving the enemy an opportunity to get at us, but, being humans, it's almost impossible. Joyce Meyer says we can 'own our anger'; in other words, we can choose to do what the Bible says, and tone it down, or we can choose to use that anger, and sin!
God's Thoughts:
Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us control our anger toward others. Keep us from sinning and using our anger as a means of avengenance. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
