Wishing Will Not Get It
Our Thoughts:
You've heard 'Wish Upon A Star' and your wish will come true. You've heard this most of your life. A star cannot grant a wish. When you are 'wishing on a star', you are using your creative imagination.
Wishing alone can get you nothing. Lots of us 'wish' we could lose some pounds, but they just seem to stay there. We wish we had more money, a better education, a bigger home, a new car - but nothing seems to materialize. Why? Because a
wish alone doesn't work. It takes 'doing', in order to get a wish to come true. If we want to lose some weight, we have to exercise both our body and our willingness to do without certain foods, and change the amount of food we eat. Otherwise, the weight will
keep adding up, no matter how much we 'wish'. The money, the house, the car - none of those things will come with wishing alone. We need to get out there, get a job, work at it earnestly every day, in order to make the money that will help us afford the luxuries
our hearts desire.
God has a way for us to get the things we desire, without wishing. He says to delight ourselves in HIM, and HE will give us the desires of our heart. What should that desire be? It should be to (1)know, (2)love, and to (3)serve God. If we do
all this, and daily seek after His face, then, He will give us those things that we desire. But, remember, 'wishing upon a star' never worked, and never will. Go to God for those things you desire!
God's Thoughts:
Job 6:8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
Psalms 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Our Cup:
Heavenly Father, help us get our priorities straight. Teach us to want to serve you first, and give you the wants and desires. We give you praise. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
